Kimberlite wins Cavan Chippison Grand Prix for WSF

Team Ireland Equestrian's show jumping manager Robert Splaine made an unexpected appearance at the second leg of the HSI Chippison Spring Tour this evening and gave a convincing display to win the class.

The Co. Cork rider snatched the trophy at Cavan Equestrian Centre by a fifth of a second from Young Rider Gerard Clarke and Colorado in a 14-horse jump off that yielded eight double clear rounds. Third place was taken by Meath's Mark Kinsella on Ozy Clover, one of five Irish-bred horses in the top six.

Seán Walsh Wins Millstreet Young Horse Class

Seán Walsh from Waterfall near Cork emerged as winner of the small horse Millstreet Discovery Final at Millstreet Horse Show last weekend when riding Karena Fitzgerald's Le Cheile Courage. The mare is by the stallion Courage II who stood at Kedrah House Stud in Cahir, Co. Tipperary. The competition is for 4 and 5 year-old horses and was judged by Northern rider Linda Courtney.

Hallo Lolita in Foal

On the same day that the 1901 Census fro Ireland was published online, good news resounded around Waterfall Stud Farm early in the morning as vet John Osbourne revealed that jumping mare Hallo Lolita was scanned in foal to Vancouver. This will be the first foal for the mare who is by Hallo (KWPN) and whose dam line goes back to Prefairy. The mare is owned by Michelle Van Soest.

Good start to season

Seán Walsh has got off to a steady start in the 2010 jumping season. With 17 horses in work there is plenty of variety - novice horses, open horses, horses in initial training and so on. 

At the first round of the Munster Grand Prix series Seán steered Robert Splaine's Billiebob into 6th place with a steady double-clear performance at the the Co. Waterford venue of Aglish.
